McDonald’s has been in our lives for a whopping 77 years now, after being founded in 1940. Two brothers, Richard and Maurice McDonald, first set up their barbecue restaurant all those years ago, without realizing how truly massive it would become. It wasn’t until 1953, however, that the first franchised restaurant with the famous Golden Arches was opened up – in Phoenix, Arizona, in fact. Two years later, the infamous Ray Kroc became a franchise agent for the business and subsequently purchased the whole thing from the brothers. Kroc and the McDonald’s brothers constantly fought over the business, and there’s a pretty interesting movie about the whole history called The Founder, which came out in 2016.
Over the last 77 years, McDonald’s has grown to be one of the most recognizable brands in the whole world. There’s not a soul on this planet who wouldn’t recognize the Golden Arches from a mile away, no matter their age, upbringing or social status. You could be traveling Thailand, taking in all of the culture and Thai food, before landing upon a McDonald’s just down the road (and Thai McDonald’s is pretty amazing, just as a heads up). They are literally everywhere! According to the latest statistics, the fast-food chain has 36,899 restaurants in 120 countries, and they serve around 68 million customers every single day. Wow.
We all have fond memories of McDonald’s; from the epic birthday parties you could have growing up (they’d let you make milkshake!) through to late night stop-offs at a parties. We’ve all driven through on our way to somewhere special or woken up early on a weekend just to get a Double Sausage and Egg McMuffin, complete with hash browns. Memories have been forged at McDonald’s, and that’s something you can’t say about every fast food chain. Perhaps that’s why it is one of the most popular restaurants in the world… Or maybe it’s just because their chicken nuggets are amazing.
Because so many people visit McDonald’s on a regular basis, you’re bound to see some weird and wonderful things every now and then. A bit like WalMart, which definitely seems to attract some colorful characters. Whether it be someone with a laundry basket on their head through to someone trying to get past the drive-through rules without actually driving, there’s always something happening at McDonald’s. These photos go to prove that there’s nowhere quite like the Golden Arches of Maccy D’s!

[post_page_title]Free Wi-Fi[/post_page_title]
Look, if you’re going to advertise free Wi-Fi as a selling point to your fast food establishment, don’t be surprised if people start bringing in all of their devices. While you may have expected most people to bring in their laptops and tablets, one woman took it a step further when she brought in her entire personal computer. Like… How heavy was that to carry around? Someone needs to hook this lady up with some modern technology.
