Whether we’re uploading pictures, scrolling through our feeds, or looking for some inspiration in other people’s accounts, social media takes up much of our time and attention – especially Instagram. This particular media is based on sharing amazing, eye-capturing, and artistic pictures. It makes each and every one of us into a photographer, and allows us to have our own fans.
When you open an Instagram account and post beautiful and unique pictures, you can gain a large number of followers that act as your own little fan base, and it feels good to know that people find you interesting. Every follower and every like you get on your posts are like fuel to your social media presence – a fuel that can also get highly addictive.
But some people who have opened an Instagram account, have gained an unbelievable amount of followers in such short time, they were blown away. This doesn’t happen to everyone, but every once in a while an Instagram account captures its viewers in an unexpected way, which leads to a huge following. These people are the Instagram influencers, and they not only have many fans following their every social media action, but also set trends and might promote different agendas or even products.
Golf player Paige Spiranac is one of these people. Her social media has jumped from under 10,000 followers to over 100,000 followers in just two days, and is now standing on 1.4 million followers on Instagram – making her account just as popular as golf heavy hitters Rory McIlroy, Rickie Fowler, and Jordan Spieth. The beautiful golfer caught people’s attention, which opened many doors for her, and even landed her photo shoots with the coveted Sports Illustrated and Golf Digest magazines.
With all that attention, Paige has also received her fair share of criticism, from people questioning her actual contribution to the field. Although she hasn’t played professionally since 2016, the golfer has said she was focusing on improving her game, as well as promoting her anti-bullying messages – a cause she feels very strongly about, as she’s been cyber bullied herself as a teenager.
Paige received more criticism for the pictures she’s posted to her Instagram account – and more specifically the outfits she’s wearing in these photos, like plunging necklines, short skirts, and tight outfits that were deemed inappropriate by some. But she’s adamant on sending a positive message to people about feeling comfortable in your own skin, and wearing whatever makes you happy. And one thing’s for certain, her followers completely agree.
