Travolta met Diana, who was 18 years older than him while filming their movie “The Boy in the Plastic Bubble” in 1976. Travolta fell in love with his on-screen mother, and they started dating. Unfortunately, their happy relationship was soon turned around by fate. Hyland was diagnosed with breast cancer, and after fighting it for less than a year, she passed away at 41, in Travolta’s arms. Her performance in their mutual film awarded Hyland a posthumous Emmy, and it was John who went on stage to accept it on her behalf.
