Russell Brand and Katy Perry
As far a superstar couples go, it’s hard to beat anyone like Russell Brand and Katy Perry. Kety is one of the biggest pop superstars in the world, while Russell has done everything from conquering the world of comedy to appear in Hollywood hits and even preach his personal views to the world. So what could go wrong? Unfortunately, when the pair met, Katy was already dating fellow singer Travie McCoy. It was the fireworks between Katy and Russell that saw them begin dating just one year later. They were engaged after three months and married after a further ten, but it all came to an end after only 14 months as a married couple. Now that’s a whirlwind romance.
Nicolas Cage and Alice Kim
Although Nic is one of the most significant actors in Hollywood, it seems as though this superstar had enough of hanging out with fellow celebs. After two marriages to actress Patricia Arquette and star Lisa Marie Presley, could it be third time lucky for wife number three, waitress Alice Kim? The pair were engaged after two months of dating and went on to walk down the aisle later the same year. There might have been 20 years between them, but it seemed as though nothing could hold this couple back. That was until 2016 when Nicolas and Alice officially filed for divorce. Now, they focus on raising their son, Kal-El, together.
Kris Humphries and Kim Kardashian
To say this pair had a rollercoaster relationship might be a tad of an understatement. Kris and Kim began dating at the end of 2010. Fast forward seven months and the reality star has a $2 million engagement ring on her finger. Over the next three months, the couple busied themselves planning the wedding of the century until they finally tied the knot. Sadly, it wasn’t meant to last as they called things off just two months into married life.
Benji Madden and Cameron Diaz
This actress and musician have always kept their private lives away from the prying eyes of the media, but it seemed as though they could hide their love no more back in 2014 after they were spotted holding hands around New York. After seven months of dating, and several engagement rumors, the pair announced they were going to tie the knot. The official ceremony was just one month later, and they have been together ever since. Perhaps fairytales can happen?
Tommy Lee and Pamela Anderson
There’s having a quick engagement, and then there’s practically wearing your wedding dress to your first date. That’s right; Tommy and Pamela were engaged and married all within 96 hours of meeting each other! Although it seemed as though this whirlwind romance could be built to withstand the test of time, the couple were signing divorce papers the following year. They might have reconciled a few times, but this Tommy and Pamela haven’t been an official item since 1998.
Lyle Lovett and Julia Roberts
Amazingly, actress Julia Roberts was once set to walk down the aisle with Kiefer Sutherland. However, she called off the whole day mere hours before the main event. It wasn’t long before she met and fell for Lyle Lovett while filming the comedy The Player. The couple were official for three weeks before they were married back in 1993. It’s even reported the pair planned the big day in two days. Unfortunately, after 21 months of marriage, they both went their separate ways.
Kevin Federline and Britney Spears
It seems as though being in the same line of work means there’s a good chance you might meet the partner of your dreams. At least, that’s what happened to pop princess Britney and backup dancer Kevin. They became official as soon as they met in 2004. It was Britney that proposed on a plane ride after one month together, but sadly she was rejected. That’s only so Kevin could pop the question himself. Although they walked down the aisle four months later, Britney and Kevin divorced after two years.
Kenny Chesney and Renee Zellweger
These celebs sure don’t hang around, and Kenny and Renee are no exception. The pair shared the news they had gotten engaged at a concert, but it wasn’t their secret relationship that got people talking. No, it was the fact the singer and actress said “I do” after nine days. As well as a quick engagement and marriage, this pair also had a speedy annulment as the marriage came to an end after a mere 128 days. Renee went on to add she felt as though the wedding was the “biggest mistake.”
Lamar Odom and Khloe Kardashian
Here we have another swift engagement from a member of the Kardashian klan, only this time it’s Khloe. The reality star and Lamar were first spotted in August 2009, and by September they had announced their engagement. As if that wasn’t enough, the couple married just five days later before Lamar had to jet back off for his basketball training. Although it was quick to start, their relationship was even quicker to finish as they were divorced by December 2013.
Billy Bob Thornton and Angelina Jolie
Before the days of Brangelina, there was Angelly. Although both actors were dating other people when they first met, they soon began a relationship. Not content there, Billy Bob and Angelina walked down the aisle after two months together at a Las Vegas ceremony. During their marriage, the pair were spotted wearing vials of each other’s blood, and Angelina even got a Billy Bob tattoo, but it wasn’t to last. The couple officially filed for divorce after three years together.
Marc Anthony and Jennifer Lopez
These superstars had known each other for years and even married other people before they started dating in 2003. J-Lo was all set to tie the knot with Ben Affleck when she called it quits hours before being set to say “I do.” It seems as though this star had a distraction as just four months later she tied the knot with Marc Anthony. There is a good reason their engagement had to be a secret: Marc was still in the process of divorcing Dayanara Torres.
Chad Kroeger and Avril Lavigne
It’s not just actors that know how to take things quickly; singers do, too. Chavril became official in July 2012. The pair had been recording music together for a few months which gave them a perfect chance to grow close. However, that wasn’t enough for the stars who got engaged after one month together. Although Chad and Avril got married at a romantic French ceremony, the marriage only lasted three years before they divorced. Thankfully, they have remained close and still record music together today.
George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin
George Clooney has been the man of many people’s dreams for years. Unfortunately, they will all have to wait as he is now caught up in the ride of life with Amal Alamuddin, the actor admits he fell for Amal as soon as they met, and put a ring on her finger after six months of knowing each other. George had it all planned out, but sadly his proposal didn’t go to plan. It seems as though none of that mattered to Amal as the pair wed in the following months and now share twins.
Nick Cannon and Mariah Carey
In true celeb style, this couple married on Mariah’s private Bahamian island… After six weeks together! Amazingly, Mariah and Nick went on to have two children as well as renewing their wedding vows every single year. That was until 2016 when the pair filed for divorce. It seems as though this couple could only cope with one year of marriage for every week they knew each other, but have remained close for the sake of their children.
Paul McDonald and Nikki Reed
Sometimes looks can be deceiving, which might have been the case with Paul and Nikki’s relationship. The two became an official couple back in April 2011 before Paul popped the question two months later. The actress was quick to shoot down any criticism by stating the pair were utterly in love. The couple tied the knot in October 2011, but it seems as though it wasn’t meant to last after all. Despite the loved-up posts on social media, the couple divorced in March 2014.
Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes
It seemed as though no one had ever been as in love as Tom Cruise when he announced his feelings for Katie Holmes of the talk show The Oprah Winfrey Show. Thus, Tomkat was born. Tom and Katie wed in the next few months but sadly divorced after six years in 2012.
Rob Kardashian and Blac Chyna
It seems as though keeping up with the Kardashians is a career in itself, especially when it comes to their quick engagements. Rob and Blac Chyna had everyone fooled in February 2016 with a prank engagement photo. That was until Rob chose a suitable seven-carat ring to concrete their ten-week relationship in April 2016. The couple went on to share a daughter, Dream, but sadly never made it to the altar. Apparently, the split was after alleged cheating rumors.
Sofia Vergara and Joe Manganiello
Joe Manganiello proposed to Sofia Vergara on Christmas Eve 2014 in Hawaii. He said that he got down on one knee and popped the question in Spanish, indoors instead of on the beach, to avoid paparazzi. She was wrong, apparently, and this adorable couple are still going strong, giving us all #couplegoals to which to aspire.
Elsa Pataky and Chris Hemsworth
According to actor Chris Hemsworth, he and wife, actress and model Elsa Pataky did not plan to get married quickly, but it felt right so they went for it anyway. Ryan Lochte and Kayla Rae Reid
Record breaking swimmer Ryan Lochte is as famous for stirring up controversy at the 2016 Rio de Janeiro Olympics as he is for his gold medal strokes. Unfortunately, however, it wasn’t meant to last, and the couple called off the wedding several months later.
Naya Rivera and Ryan Dorsey
Just three months after Naya Rivera and Big Sean called it quits, Rivera went ahead and had a wedding anyway, but with longtime friend Ryan Dorsey instead! The couple didn’t waste any time, tying the knot on the date that had been set for Rivera and Big Sean’s wedding. The marriage was a surprise, even to the pair’s closest friends. Sadly, they couldn’t make it work and finalized their divorce in 2018, sharing custody of their two-year-old son.
Reese Witherspoon and Jim Toth
After a number of high profile relationships, actress Reese Witherspoon fell for someone who works behind the scenes: Hollywood agent Jim Toth. They dated for less than a year before he popped the question, and got married in a rustic ceremony just a few months later. Toth reportedly bonded with Witherspoon’s two children from her previous relationship with Ryan Phillipe, and unlike some of the other quick engagements we’ve seen, this marriage is still going strong.
Carey Mulligan and Marcus Mumford
This is one of the cutest love stories we have ever heard. Actress Carey Mulligan and Mumford & Sons frontman Marcus Mumford were pen pals as children, after meeting at a summer camp. Apparently they lost touch, and both dated other people, before finally finding each other again in 2011, when Carey attended a Mumford & Sons concert. They were later seen looking cozy together and they truly must have been, because five months later, they were engaged. They are still together, and have two children.

Jessica Simpson and Eric Johnson
Just like her younger sister, singer Jessica Simpson was quick to take the leap once she knew she had what she wanted. The happy couple had two children together before they finally got married in July 2014.
