5 things that will improve your office life

When you sit down and think about how much of your life is spent at your job, it gets kind of depressing. We’d speculate that the average worker dedicates around 1,500-2,000 hours of their life to their job every year, and that’s based on office hours alone. With nearly a quarter of our yearly hours spent at work, you have to wonder what makes it worth it. Well, we reckon we’ve found the answer. As long as you have these things in your office, those hours will fly by.

Nap pods

Sleeping on the job might be frowned upon, but who couldn’t use a nap when they’re having a stressful day? Your brain’s no good to anyone if it’s overworked or tired, so taking time out for a quick sleep would do everyone a world of good. Companies are now designing nap pods designed explicitly for this purpose, although a good ol’ bed in the break room would be fine by us. As long as there’s somewhere comfortable for a quick bit of shut-eye, we’re happy.

Pool table

The aim of every boss might be to get their employees working as a team, but there’s nothing wrong with some healthy competition. Installing a pool table, ping-pong table, or any kind of gaming equipment could be hugely beneficial to the office. Everyone needs to take time away from their computer at some point, and a games room gives employees somewhere fun to unwind. They’ll enjoy themselves so much they’ll probably forget they’re even at work.

Plant pots

Whose idea was it to design offices to be so dull? Thank god for companies like Google and YouTube who thought outside of the box and made their offices a fun place to work. While not everywhere can install things like ball pits, there is something that nowhere should be without – plants. Adding a bit of greenery to everyone’s desks is a great way to brighten things up and improve people’s health. Plus, plants apparently make workers more productive, so that’s a bonus.

Treats machine

The afternoons are always the hardest when you’re at work. You’ve made it through most of the day, but your energy levels have started to drop, making those last few hours seem impossible. That’s when you need a boost of energy from, say, an ice cream machine. How about a sweets dispenser? A… salad bar? People love food, and not just because it tastes amazing. It gives us the energy we need to keep going when we’re struggling to get work done.

Standing desks

Find yourself getting restless when you’re on the clock? Office workers spend an awful lot of time sitting down, and that’s not good for anyone. We see these things telling us to move around so many times a day, but that’s just distracting when you’re trying to work. Enter standing desks. They keep people on their feet and prevent them from wasting away in their seats. Problem solved.

Work is an inevitable part of life. However, with these things in your life, it doesn’t have to be a drag.
